Hong Kong Watch co-hosts town hall event ahead of local elections in London

Hong Kong Watch and Sutton Hong Kong Culture and Arts Society organised a town hall event on 12 April 2022 to introduce the local elections to be held on 5 May 2022. The event was chaired by Benedict Rogers, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch. The representatives from the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and the Liberal Democrats presented their respective platforms and explained the role of local government.

They were:
(1) Liberal Democrats: Councillor Ruth Dombey, Leader of Sutton Council
(2) Conservatives: Councillor Tom Drummond, Principal Opposition Group Leader at Sutton Council
(3) Labour: Paul McCarthy, candidate for the ward of St Helier West in Carshalton & Wallington

Besides party representatives, former Hong Kong lawmaker Nathan Law also spoke at the event. A Hong Konger also shared his experience and views on running for local council.
