Nine Canadian MPs join Hong Kong Watch to strengthen parliamentary engagement and community outreach

Hong Kong Watch extends its sincere gratitude to Melissa Lantsman MP, Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, and Senator Leo Housakos, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Canada – both valued Patrons of Hong Kong Watch – for co-hosting a roundtable on community outreach and introducing Hong Kong Watch to parliamentarians on Parliament Hill last week.

Both Melissa Lantsman MP and Senator Leo Housakos emphasised the importance of supporting Hong Kong Watch’s ongoing work on the Hong Kong Pathway, human rights and the rule of law, and reaffirmed their commitment to the Hong Kong community across Canada. The discussion also highlighted the need for continued collaboration between policymakers and civil society to ensure that the voices of Hong Kongers in Canada are heard and supported.

Special thanks to Michael Chong MP, Rhonda Kirkland MP, Kelly DeRidder MP and Arnold Viersen MP for attending, and to Shuvaloy Majumdar MP, Chak Au MP and Costas Menegakis MP for sharing their insights into the challenges surrounding the Hong Kong Pathway, as well as for their continued commitment to supporting Hong Kongers. We also thank Michael Ma MP and Sandra Cobena MP for arranging for their staff to attend the roundtable.
