Hong Kong Watch engages with Minister’s office and Immigration Committee members to push for one-time measure on Hong Kong Pathway backlog
Yesterday, Hong Kong Watch Canada, alongside the Hong Kong Young Professionals Association Canada (HKYPA), met with the senior advisor in Minister Tim Hodgson’s office to highlight the urgent need for action to support more than 20,000 Hong Kongers who remain in limbo, and to urge the government to introduce a one-time measure to clear the Hong Kong Pathway backlog. On November 29, HKYPA will deliver a petition for this one-time measure at Minister Hodgson’s local riding office.
In addition, Hong Kong Watch’s Advocacy and Communications Officer Landson Chan and Chair of Hong Kong Watch Canada Aileen Calverley met with cross-party members of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM), Brad Redekopp MP and Salma Zahid MP. We are grateful for their support in advocating for additional quotas for the Hong Kong Pathway.
Landson presented HKYPA’s petition, and Salma Zahid MP has kindly agreed to pass the request on to Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Lena Metlege Diab. We also appreciate Brad Redekopp MP’s commitment to assisting applicants facing optional open work permit (OOWP) rejections. He has successfully helped many Hong Kong Pathway applicants fast-track their applications, and we are deeply thankful for his continued support.
Hong Kong Watch will continue working closely with Members of Parliament and the wider community to ensure that Hong Kongers receive fair, timely and compassionate treatment under this special public policy.
香港監察會晤加拿大部長辦公室及移民委員會委員 爭取以一次過特別配額清理Hong Kong Pathway積壓
昨天，加拿大香港監察聯同加拿大香港菁英協會（HKYPA）會晤部長Tim Hodgson辦公室的資深顧問，強調迫切需要採取行動支援兩萬多名仍在無了期等待的香港人，並促請政府推出一次過特別配額清理「Hong Kong Pathway」積壓個案。11月29日，HKYPA將前往Hodgson部長的地方選區辦事處遞交請願信，要求推出這項一次性措施。
另外，香港監察倡議及傳訊主任Landson Chan和加拿大香港監察主席Aileen Calverley會見跨黨派公民及移民常務委員會委員Brad Redekopp MP和Salma Zahid MP。香港監察感謝兩位國會議員支援我們倡議增加「Hong Kong Pathway」配額。
Landson提呈HKYPA的請願信，而Salma Zahid MP已同意向移民部長Lena Metlege Diab轉達訴求。我們亦感謝Brad Redekopp MP致力協助可選開放式工作簽證（OOWP）被拒的申請人。他成功幫助很多「Hong Kong Pathway」申請人加快審批，我們非常感激他一直以來的支持。
