Hong Kong Watch hosts UK Youth Initiative workshops on community resilience and digital security

This week, as part of our UK Youth Initiative Programme, Hong Kong Watch hosted two workshops on building community resilience and enhancing digital security.

On Sunday, we welcomed Richard Choi, Councillor for Sutton Central and founder of the Sutton Hongkonger community. Richard shared his journey and insights on building a sustainable Hong Konger grassroots community, mobilising people for positive change, and overcoming setbacks. He also facilitated an exercise on community organising and resilience.

Yesterday, participants took part in a digital security training session led by Maia Scott and Rebekah Brown from Citizen Lab, an organisation that provides training, tools, and educational resources on protecting high-risk groups in democracy, human rights, and global security. Maia and Rebekah shared their expertise in identifying common phishing techniques and ways to strengthen digital safety.

These workshops conclude this year’s series of training in advocacy, public policy, and civic engagement under our UK Youth Initiative Programme. We are grateful to all our speakers for their contributions, and we look forward to continuing to build our youth participants’ knowledge and skills and to supporting their advocacy and civic pursuits.
