Hong Kong Watch marks International Day of Political Prisoners in joint statement from coalition of over 50 human rights groups
To mark the International Day of Political Prisoners today, Hong Kong Watch has joined over 50 human rights organisations to form ‘The October 30 Coalition’, to demonstrate our support towards political prisoners across the world.
The statement brought attention to the over 1 million people around the world under political imprisonment, including human rights defenders, pro-democracy activists, journalists, writers and artists. It also highlighted the importance of sustained international spotlight and coordinated efforts to secure the release of political prisoners.
Hong Kong Watch joins this coalition of signatories in their call to demand immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners, stand with them and their families, and hold perpetrators of human rights abuses accountable.
