Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle becomes Hong Kong Watch Patron in UK

Hong Kong Watch is pleased to announce the appointment of Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle as our new Patron in the UK.

Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle – Natalie Bennett – has been a member of the House of Lords representing the Green Party since 2019. She served as Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales from 2012 to 2016. As founding Co-Chair and current Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hong Kong, she has a particular interest in human rights and democracy in Hong Kong, having covered the Hong Kong handover for the Bangkok Post in her capacity as a journalist. She also worked with Australian newspapers, The Times, The Independent, and The Guardian previously.

Baroness Bennett joins a distinguished group of Hong Kong Watch Patrons in the UK, including Lord Patten of Barnes, the last Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Malcolm Rifkind KC, former Foreign Secretary, Lord Alton of Liverpool, Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws KC, Sir Geoffrey Nice KC, Tom Tugendhat MP, Alistair Carmichael MP, James Naish MP, and Fiona Bruce.

Baroness Bennett has been a long-standing supporter of Hong Kong and Hong Kongers. We look forward to continuing working closely with her in her new role as our Patron, to uphold human rights and support the Hong Kong community.

英議員本內特女男爵加入成為香港監察贊助人

香港監察很高興宣布委任英國上議員本內特女男爵（Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle）為新贊助人。

本內特女男爵Natalie Bennett自2019年起擔任上議院議員，代表綠黨。她在2012年至2016年擔任英格蘭及威爾斯綠黨黨魁。身為國會跨黨派香港小組（All-Party Parliamentary Group on Hong Kong）創會聯席主席和現任副主席，她特別關注香港人權與民主議題，曾以記者身分為《曼谷郵報》報導香港主權移交。她之前亦曾在多份澳洲報紙、英國報紙《泰晤士報》、《獨立報》和《衛報》工作。

本內特女男爵現加入成為香港監察贊助人，其他備受尊敬的英國贊助人包括最後一任香港總督彭定康勳爵（Lord Patten of Barnes）、前外交大臣聶偉敬爵士兼御用大律師（Sir Malcolm Rifkind KC）、奧爾頓勳爵（Lord Alton of Liverpool）、肯尼迪女男爵兼御用大律師（Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws KC）、尼斯爵士兼御用大律師（Sir Geoffrey Nice KC）、國會議員董勤達（Tom Tugendhat MP）、國會議員甘文康（Alistair Carmichael MP）、國會議員James Naish MP和Fiona Bruce。

本內特女男爵長期以來一直支持香港和香港人。我們期待她以香港監察贊助人的新身分，繼續與我們緊密合作，一同捍衛人權並支援港人社群。
