Encourage your MP to support the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill amendment
Hong Kong Watch is calling upon Hong Kongers across the UK to write to their constituency MPs in support of the anti-transnational repression amendment to Clause 18 of the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, tabled by Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP. You can find the text of the amendment here.
The amendment would prevent UK authorities from sharing private information with overseas jurisdictions, including China and Hong Kong, where the right to a fair trial cannot be guaranteed. This amendment would form a crucial protection in UK law to prevent Hong Kong activists, human rights defenders, and journalists being targeted through information-sharing arrangements with authoritarian regimes.
