Location: Toronto, Canada
Hours: Part‑time, 2 days per week (16 hours), with flexibility to work regular evenings and weekends
Salary: CAD $2,080 per month
Reporting to: Operations Director
Languages: English and Cantonese required
Contract: One-year fixed-term contract with the possibility to be extended
1. Role purpose
To design and deliver youth engagement, community leadership, and civic education programmes that equip the next generation of Hong Kong Canadians to contribute actively to Canadian public life and uphold democratic values. This is a remote role but the position holder must be based in Toronto to attend meetings and events, with occasional travel to other regions of Canada as required. Applications from those who live outside Toronto will not be processed.
2. Key responsibilities
Programme Design & Delivery
Co‑create and implement a Community Champions initiative: recruit, train, and mentor 5–10 local leaders across Canada.
Develop and deliver civic workshops, internships, and mentoring programmes with allies
Facilitate cross‑Canada engagement by supporting diaspora groups outside Toronto, both virtually and through occasional travel.
Coordinate with US Hong Kong community groups to share resources and best practice.
Partnership & Community Development
Strengthen and expand partnerships with the Hong Kong diaspora community.
Build trust and collaboration with diaspora youth leaders and organisations.
Support grassroots outreach strategies that encourage youth participation in civic life.
Actively engage Members of Parliament in local ridings for community engagement.
Support HKW’s Hong Kong Pathway efforts at the community level.
Resource Development
Create and distribute civic engagement toolkits and outreach materials (digital and print).
Work with HKW UK to ensure messaging, training content, and programme materials are consistent and high-quality.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Develop structured feedback and survey mechanisms to evaluate programme impact.
Prepare periodic reports on engagement metrics, participant feedback, and growth opportunities.
Fundraising & Sustainability
Collaborate with the Development and Fundraising Officer to identify and apply for government or philanthropic funding to grow programmes.
Provide impact data and success stories to support donor cultivation and reporting.

Essential
Commitment to HKW’s mission and values.
Fluent in English and Cantonese (spoken and written).
Experience in youth work, civic education, or community leadership programmes.
Ability to inspire, mentor, and engage young people.
Skilled in building partnerships with community organisations.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Confident communicator, both in person and in writing.
Desirable
Programme design or curriculum development experience.
Familiarity with Canadian civic structures and public engagement.
Experience applying for grants or working on fundraising initiatives.
Understanding of newcomer or diaspora community needs.
