Yeung Ching-kee (also known as his pen name Lee Ping) was arrested on 23 June 2021 for conspiring to collude with foreign forces under the National Security Law. He faced a new charge of conspiracy to publish seditious publications on 28 December 2021, along with other Apple Daily executives.

  • Charge: Conspiracy to collude with foreign forces

    Incident: Six former Apple Daily employees were accused of conspiring, together with founder Jimmy Lai and three related companies, to publish over 160 items of “impugned content” since April 2019 to sway public opinion, promote protests, and call for foreign sanctions against China and Hong Kong. Yeung Ching-kee testified against Jimmy Lai in exchange for a shorter sentence. (HKFP)
