Reinhard Bütikofer becomes Hong Kong Watch Patron in Germany

Hong Kong Watch is pleased to announce the appointment of former MEP Reinhard Bütikofer as our new Patron in Germany.

Reinhard Bütikofer is a Senior Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). He was a Member of the European Parliament for the Greens/European Free Alliance Group from 2009 to 2024, serving on the Foreign Relations, International Trade, and Industrial Policy Committees. He also served in European Parliament delegations for relations with the US, ASEAN, and China, chairing the China delegation from 2019 to 2024. He was co-chair of the European Green Party from 2012 to 2019 and co-chair of the German Green Party from 2002 to 2008.

Mr Bütikofer sits on the Advisory Board of the Global Taiwan Institute, serves as International Coordinator of the German-Taiwanese Association, and has been organising annual Berlin Taiwan Conferences since 2022. He was previously a co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC). From 2021 to 2025 he was sanctioned by the People’s Republic of China.

Mr Bütikofer joins a diverse array of Hong Kong Watch Patrons in the EU, UK, US, Canada, and South Korea. Our Patrons are drawn from across the political spectrum, reflecting our cross-party and non-partisan approach. Our European Patrons include MEP Miriam Lexmann and former MdB Frank Müller-Rosentritt.

Hong Kong Watch welcomes Mr Bütikofer as our new European Patron. We believe that his expertise in China and Hong Kong affairs as well as enormous experience in German and European politics will strengthen our voice for Hong Kong in Germany and in the EU.

前歐洲議會議員Reinhard Bütikofer加入成為德國香港監察贊助人

香港監察很高興宣布委任前歐洲議會議員Reinhard Bütikofer為新任德國贊助人。

Reinhard Bütikofer是歐洲政策分析中心（Center for European Policy Analysis）資深研究員。他在2009年至2024年期間擔任歐洲議會議員，代表綠黨／歐洲自由聯盟，並在外交關係委員會、國際貿易委員會和產業政策委員會任職。他亦曾在歐洲議會對美關係、對東盟關係和對中關係代表團任職，並在2019年至2024年擔任對中代表團主席。他在2012年至2019年擔任歐洲綠黨聯席主席，在2002年至2008年擔任德國綠黨聯席主席。

Reinhard Bütikofer是全球台灣研究中心（Global Taiwan Institute）顧問委員會成員，並擔任德台協會（German-Taiwanese Association）國際協調員，自2022年起籌辦年度柏林台灣會議。他曾任對中政策跨國議會聯盟（IPAC）聯席主席。他在2021年至2025年被中國制裁。

Reinhard Bütikofer現加入成為來自多地香港監察贊助人的一員，當中包括歐盟、英國、美國、加拿大和南韓。香港監察贊助人來自不同政治光譜，反映我們的跨黨派、無黨派立場。歐洲香港監察贊助人包括歐洲議會議員Miriam Lexmann和前德國國會議員Frank Müller-Rosentritt。
