Select Committee on China Chairman Moolenaar urges President Trump and Secretary Rubio to take action on prisoners of conscience and Hong Kong officials

On 24 March, Representative John Moolenaar, Chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, sent letters to President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling for the release of prisoners of conscience, including Jimmy Lai, and accountability for the human rights abuses of Hong Kong officials.

Hong Kong Watch thanks Chairman Moolenaar for taking action after we raised these issues and presented a letter urging President Trump to demand the release of Jimmy Lai and other Hong Kong’s political prisoners on his visit to China, during our meeting in Washington, DC last week.
