Hong Kong Watch hosts UK Youth Initiative workshop on parliamentary advocacy
Yesterday, as part of our UK Youth Initiative Programme, Hong Kong Watch hosted a workshop on the UK’s legislative process and parliamentary advocacy.
Our Head of Advocacy and Research Thomas Benson delivered a comprehensive presentation on the UK’s legislative process, the roles of government and Parliament in law and policy making, and the various ways in which advocacy groups and NGOs can engage productively with UK lawmaking.
We were also joined by Hong Kong activist and former Hong Kong District Councillor Carmen Lau, who shared her insight in conducting parliamentary advocacy as a Hong Konger and ways to effectively amplify the voices of the Hong Kong community in the UK.
This seminar is part of a series of training in advocacy, public policy, and civic engagement in our UK Youth Initiative Programme. We look forward to continuing our efforts to build the knowledge and skill of our youth participants, and supporting their future advocacy and civic pursuits.
