Human rights and diaspora groups urge UK Prime Minister to act on reported use of prohibited weapons at Chinese Embassy in London

On 20 August, Hong Kong Watch joined 18 human rights and diaspora groups in writing to Prime Minister Andy Burnham, urging him to take measures in response to the reported use of prohibited weapons by Chinese Embassy personnel during a peaceful vigil in London last month.

The letter concluded with a call for the British government to be one that ‘treats the intimidation of its own citizens by a foreign mission as a matter of national security rather than an irritant in a bilateral relationship.’

人權及離散團體聯署促請英揆貝安德就倫敦中國大使館職員疑用非法電槍採取行動

8月20日，香港監察與18個人權及離散團體代表聯署去信英國首相貝安德（Andy Burnham），促請他就上月倫敦中國大使館職員在一場和平悼念自焚身亡藏人活動期間，懷疑使用違禁武器電槍一事採取措施。

信件最後呼籲英國政府「將外國外交使團對本國公民的恐嚇視為國家安全問題，而非雙邊關係中的麻煩」。
