Hong Kong Watch hosts UK Youth Initiative workshop on community and policy research

Yesterday, as part of our UK Youth Initiative Programme, Hong Kong Watch hosted a workshop on community and policy research.

We were joined by Julian Chan, Co-Founder and Director of Hongkongers in Britain, who shared his experience in leading community research on newly arrived BNO Hong Kongers and their needs in social support and integration. He noted how community research can be designed to facilitate policy change, and how its findings are translated into practical and actionable policy recommendations.

This was followed by a presentation by our Policy and Strategy Advisor Ray Wong, who led our participants to explore the differences between conducting academic and policy research. He shared his insights on how policy gaps are identified, how research focuses are designed to address them, and ways to make policy research impactful.

This workshop is part of a series of training in advocacy, public policy, and civic engagement in our UK Youth Initiative Programme. We are grateful for the contributions of our speakers and we look forward to continuing our efforts to build the knowledge and skill of our youth participants, and supporting their future advocacy and civic pursuits.

香港監察舉辦青年政治參與工作坊 探討社區與政策研究

昨天，香港監察舉辦「英國青年政治參與計劃」工作坊，探討社區研究與政策研究。

我們邀請了英國港僑協會聯合創辦人兼董事Julian Chan擔任講者，他分享了就剛抵英BNO港人在社區支援和融入方面的需要展開的社區研究經驗。他亦分享了社區研究可如何促進政策改革，以及如何將研究結果轉化為實際可行的政策建議。

隨後，香港監察政策及策略顧問黃台仰（Ray Wong）帶領參加者探討學術研究與政策研究之間的差異。他就如何識別政策缺口、設計研究焦點，以及確保政策研究有影響力等方面分享見解。

這場工作坊是香港監察「英國青年政治參與計劃」中倡議、公共政策和公民參與培訓系列的一部分。我們感激講者的分享，同時期待繼續培訓青年參加者的知識和技能，並支持他們未來投身倡議及公民活動。
